Tuesday afternoon, October 9/2007, a male Rufous Hummingbird was seen looking for a feeder on Dawkins lane in the Westwood Lake area. The bird returned to where a feeder is usually hung in the summer.
Where are you located? Here in western Oregon, a rufous came looking for the feeder in November 2007I felt sorry for him and put the feeder back up. He has remained with us all winter, even coming to feed when it was snowing! So far he has endured temperatures of 15 degrees, but mostly between 30 and 50 degrees F.
