John Purves and I saw a huge raft of many thousands of Surf Scoters along
with Greater Scaup, Long-tailed Ducks, Barrow’s and Common Goldeneye,
Mallards, American Widgeon, lessor Scaup, a Eurasian Widgeon, Bonaparte's Gulls,
a few Black Scoters, Harlequin Ducks and Mew, California Gulls. These birds were
seen between French Creek and Parksville Bay today at about 2:00 P.M.
