Ring-neck Pheasant (R.

Thursday October 23, 2025
A Ring-necked Pheasant was seen feeding with a covey of California Quail in a field along Jingle Pot Road near Andres Road Nanaimo.
Tuesday October 21, 2025:
The Tuesday Bird Walk went to Rathtrevor Provincial Park in Parksville. Weather was mix of cloud and sun. A few highlights from the walk today were Iceland Gull, Marbled Murrelet, and Short-tailed Shearwater that was seen at a distance on the water. There was also a Cooper’s Hawk that seemed to follow the group around and was very photogenic.
19 birders saw and heard the following 43 species:

The Backyard Bird Walks
Our bird walks go out
Sunday mornings in Nanaimo and Tuesday mornings in Parksville and Qualicum
Beach area, are easy walks that go for two to three hours (back for lunch is
the plan). Bring binoculars and a field guide. The walks are weather pending.

Sunday Bird Walk, October 26, 2025:
Sunday Bird Walk will be going to Buttertubs Marsh again, hopefully with good weather.
Meet directly at the parking lot located at Jingle Pot Road and Third Street by the miner’s shack at 9:00am. Weather Cooperating.
Tuesday Bird Walk, October 28, 2025:
Tuesday
Bird Walk will be going the Shelly Road side of the Englishman River
Estuary in Parksville.
Meet directly at the end of Shelly Road at 9:00am. Shelly Road is located off HWY 19A just past the orange bridge into Parksville coming from the south. Weather cooperating.
