Thursday October 28, 2021:

 

3 Redhead and 2 Canvasback along with Gadwall, American Coots and Ring-necked Ducks were seen on Diver’s Lake in Nanaimo.

Tuesday October 26, 2021:

 

The Tuesday Bird Walk went to the Englishman River Estuary, Shelly Road. The weather was good with clouds, some sunny breaks, and a light sprinkle. Some highlights from the walk were an American Kestrel feeding on dragonflies and providing a great view. Northern Shovelers in a back channel near the viewing mound and seeing Dunlin and Black-bellied Plover’s perch sided by side on a log.

13 Birders saw and heard the following 55 species:

An American Pipit, Western Meadowlark and Snow Geese were seen at Piper’s Lagoon.

The Sunday Bird Walk was unfortunately canceled due to the weather.

The Backyard Bird Walks

Our bird walks go out Sunday mornings in Nanaimo and Tuesday mornings in Parksville and Qualicum Beach area, are easy walks that go for two to three hours (back for lunch is the plan). Bring binoculars and a field guide. The walks are weather pending.

The Tuesday Bird Walk, November 2, 2021

This Tuesday Bird Walk will be going to Englishman River Estuary, Plummer Road.

Meet at the Parksville Tourist Information Center parking lot, located by Hwy 19A, Northwest Bay Road and Franklin’s Gull Road in Parksville, at 9:00 am or meet at the trail head at Plummer Road and Shorewood Drive in Parksville at 9:10 am, weather cooperating.

 

The Sunday Bird Walk October 31, 2021

The Sunday Bird walk will be going to the Neck Point Park again.

Meet at The Backyard Wildbird & Nature Store at 9:00am or at Neck Point parking lot at 9:10 am. Weather pending.
