Tuesday Bird Walk

Parksville/Qualicum Beach

On August 6 the Tuesday Bird Walk went to Columbia Beach by French Creek. The morning was sunny and warm with very little breeze. A few highlights from the walk were a Great Horned Owl, Long-billed Dowitcher along with Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs and these were seen at the end of Admiral Tyron Blvd by French Creek. Not much was happening on the water side but there were 8 Black Oystercatchers feeding on the beach. Our parking lot bird was a Common Loon.

Twelve birders including birders saw and heard the following forty three (43) species:

Great Blue Heron

Copper’s Hawk

Bald Eagle

Turkey Vulture

California Quail

Long-billed Dowitcher

Greater Yellowlegs

Lesser Yellowlegs

Least Sandpiper

Black Oystercatchers

California Gull

Glaucous-winged Gull

Pigeon Guillemot

Belted Kingfisher

Eurasian Collared Dove

The Sunday Bird Walk: there will be NO Bird Walk on August 11^th.

The Tuesday Bird Walk on August 13, 2019 will be going to Deep Bay. Meet at the Parksville Community Park (near the Lions Club playground parking area) in Parksville at 9:00 am or meet at the marina parking lot in Deep Bay at 9:30 a.m.
