The Tuesday bird walk went to the Little Qualicum River Estuary in Qualicum
Beach. The morning was windy with rain showers all morning. A very large flock
of Black Turnstones were bathing along the gravel bar off the viewing platform.
Pacific Loons, Common Loons, Horned Grebes and Red-necked Grebes were further
offshore. Greater Scaup, Surf Scoters, White-winged Scoters and lack Scoters
formed a huge flock near the gravel bar at the mouth of the river. California
Gulls, Thayer's Gulls, a Herring Gull and Glaucous-winged Gulls were roosting in
the fresh water of the river.
